Spark Base is buzzing!
Spark Base is buzzing โ come and join the fun!
Since launching in September, Spark Base has been going from strength to strength!
Our lovely new group is finding its rhythm, friendships are growing, and every week brings new ideas, adventures, discoveries and plenty of laughter.
And the best bit? The children and young people are helping shape what happens!
๐ฅ๐ Next week, they've decided to make pancakes and Halloween decorations! ๐๐ฅ
So if you've been thinking about giving Spark Base a try, this could be the perfect opportunity to come along and discover what it's all about.
A little taste of what's been happening in sessions...
๐งช Oobleck, slime-making, science boxes and discovering how to use a microscope
๐พ A very special visit from a therapy dog
๐จ Sewing, salt dough and pipe-cleaner creations
๐๏ธ Magnatile mazes, LEGO and imaginative inventions
๐ซ Beautiful tea parties, doctor and vet role-play
โฝ Football, badminton, skipping, ping pong and trips to the park
๐ค Karaoke, board games and plenty of laughter!
Of course, Spark Base isn't really about the activities. It's about having a space where you can belong.
Somewhere to follow your curiosity, explore your interests, build friendships, try new things or simply enjoy being alongside others.
There's no pressure to join in with everything, no expectation to learn in a particular way, and plenty of space for different personalities, interests, needs and ideas.
It's a space that grows and evolves with the people who are part of it.
โจ Fancy giving Spark Base a try next week?
We'd love to welcome some new faces! Come and see what unfolds when children have the freedom to play, explore, create and connect on their own terms.
๐ Could you be part of the Waymakers team?
As our community grows, we're also looking for more wonderful people who share our vision of consent-based, self-directed, neurodiversity-affirming learning.
๐ฑ Volunteer with us
We're keen to hear from people who might enjoy volunteering at our sessions. Whether you have particular skills to share or simply love supporting children to explore their interests, connect and flourish, we'd love to hear from you and may be able to offer a free Spark Base place to your child in exchange for your time.
You can read more about what volunteering involves, including how the role differs from being a parent helper, here:

โจ Paid opportunity โ 1-to-1 support
We're also looking for someone to work with us in a paid capacity, providing individual 1-to-1 support at Spark Base.
For this particular role, we're seeking someone with a thorough understanding of unschooling and the PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile of autism.
We're looking for someone who genuinely understands autonomy, demand sensitivity, trust and connection, and who can offer responsive, compassionate support without imposing unnecessary expectations or agendas.
A deep commitment to consent-based practice and a neurodiversity-affirming approach is essential.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to start a conversation!
๐ฉ Email directors@waymakerscambridge.co.uk to tell us a little about yourself and your experience.
And if someone springs to mind who might be perfect, please do pass this on!
Here's to more pancakes, possibilities, friendships and unexpected discoveries! ๐ฅโจ
With warmth,
Helen, Kristy and the Waymakers Team ๐
