First Aid Session

We had a great Waymakers Deep Dive session today with lots of input from the children and some really good answers to all my questions! They seemed to really enjoy the interactive bits of the class and the timings Helen and I agreed on in advance seemed just right for the group.

During the session we learnt about calling for help, assessing the situation using DRABC:
Danger (check surroundings for safety)
Response (check if the person is conscious)
Airway (clear the breathing passage)
Breathing (check for normal breathing)
Circulation (check for pulse/bleeding).

We also practised putting someone into the recovery position, doing CPR, treating bleeding and burns, helping someone who is choking, dealing with head bumps and broken bones.

The Waymakers base at Springstead Community Living Room was a really lovely space to use. Thank you very much for booking me for the Deep Dive session. I loved meeting all the home-educated children.
